Angela Shankman
Hi there! I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, Certified Compassionate Inquiry Practitioner, and a queer mental health therapist from Los Angeles, California. I specialize in trauma and LGBTQIA+ affirmative care.
In my private practice, I primarily see young adults (ages 18-35) who identify as LGBTQIA+ and have relational trauma. My clients have typically been in therapy before and are looking for a deeper healing opportunity. Additionally, many of my clients have traits of Highly Sensitive People, have people pleasing tendencies, and are looking to gain perspective and build more confidence in navigating their world.
My therapeutic style is very relational, person centered, non-pathologizing, and, along with Compassionate Inquiry, utilizes IFS and Equine Assisted Life Coaching. I also practice from a social justice oriented lens, and appreciate each client’s unique intersectionality. Outside of my private practice, I facilitate Compassion Trauma Circles for Compassion Prison Project (featured in Gabor’s film The Wisdom of Trauma), and am deeply connected to their mission to turn prisons into healing centers.
Compassionate Inquiry sessions are available for California residents, due to my therapy license being state specific. Both online and in person sessions are available, with in person sessions located in Agoura Hills, CA, USA.
Please reach out for further information to see if we are a good therapeutic match. I am looking forward to speaking with you!
