The BLAIPOC group is open to anyone who identifies as Black, Latinx, Asian, Indigenous, or Person of Color.

Compassionate Inquiry® Professional Training’s BLAIPOC Group 

Compassionate Inquiry® is a 330-hour, graduate level, year-long training, with a trauma-informed psychotherapeutic approach to add onto an already existing clinical and mental health practice. 

This program focuses on bringing compassion, respect, acceptance, insight, healing, freedom and connection to humanity through an international community of skillful Compassionate Inquiry Practitioners. The CI Professional Training is meant for professionals who are already working with clients, such as counselors, psychotherapists, psychologists, medical doctors, naturopaths, life coaches, and other related fields, whose scope of practice includes counseling.

Program Dates: September 16, 2025 to September 29, 2026

Biweekly Meetings: Tuesdays, 1pm-2:30pm ET with Vimalasara (Dr. Valarie Mason-John)

About Vimalasara (Valerie Mason-John):

Dr Valerie (Vimalasara) Mason-John M.A (hon.doc) is an award-winning author of 8 books, including their debut fictional memoir Novel, Borrowed Body, and  Detox Your Heart, Meditations for Emotional Trauma, and Eight Step Recovery Using The Buddha’s teachings to Overcome Addiction. They are co-founder of the secular 8-week course Mindfulness-Based Addiction Recovery MBAR and is one of the new leading  African Descent Voices in the field of Mindfulness Approaches for Addiction. They are the current president of the international organization Buddhist Recovery Network, which promotes Mindfulness and Buddhism as a complementary approach working with addiction, craving, recovery, and abstinence. Vimalasara has been working in the field of inquiry over the past 15 years, as a trainer in conflict resolution and restorative justice, and as a guide with Liberation Unleashed, and a mentor in Direct Pointing. They live in British Columbia.

Dr. Gabor Mate Image

Dr. Gabor Maté:
Retired physician, bestselling author, an internationally renowned speaker and the creator of the Compassionate Inquiry approach to psychotherapy.

Dr. Maté evolved his therapeutic approach over the course of a 20-year personal journey. It emerged as a synthesis of his work with patients in family practice, palliative care, and addiction rehabilitation. He later developed the system further while facilitating integration workshops focused on healing trauma through the use of psychedelics.

Co-creator and CEO of Compassionate Inquiry. She supported Dr. Gabor Maté in structuring the Compassionate Inquiry approach and developing the online training.

She is a naturopathic doctor, teacher and author, who combines naturopathic medicine with Compassionate Inquiry, yoga, breathing practices and meditation to support others in healing and integrating mind, body and spirit. She is a Compassionate Inquiry Founding FacilitatorCompassionate Inquiry Mentor as well as a Compassionate Inquiry Practitioner.
