Barbara Guevara

Private Mentor, Compassionate Inquiry Practitioner, Psychologist

As a Compassionate Inquiry Mentor, I will provide support, and feedback about professional issues, to help you achieve personal goals and professional competencies. My aim will be to provide a confidential opportunity to safely explore and assist your process, without judgment. Although I might offer some reflections, teaching moments and alternative responses, I will strive not to tell you what to do and to treat you fairly and impartially.

As for my professional background, I have been a Buddhism and Meditation teacher, as well as a senior Yoga teacher for more than 22 years, as well as a Journalist (Radio&TV). However, my own struggles and darknesses led me to practice and train in clinical practices. I have been practicing full-time as a mental and healthcare professional since 2017. Two year later, I started learning from Dr. Gabor Maté.

In my work, I merge Compassionate Inquiry with mindfulness-based practices, with other eastern and western ancient wisdom, and with several trauma-informed approaches (e.g. Systemic Family Constellations, Polyvagal Theory, Somatic Experience, Sensorimotor Psychotherapy, IFS, MBCT, MSC and MBSR).

I have since developed mindfulness-based programs and breathwork protocols for individuals and organizations. I have also developed protocols for mental training and health improvement, for the general population but mainly for women’s health, that include water fasting and ice bath immersions, breathwork, emotional support, nutrition, herbalism, among many other tools.

I work also as a Systemic Family Constellation Facilitator, a Somatic Breathwork coach, Cranio-sacral therapist, Sound Massage Professional Practitioner (Peter Hess® Method), a Reiki Master, and a Psychedelic-Assisted Treatment Guide.

I am a continuous learner and I am honored to serve as a Practitioner, Educator, Circle Leader and Private Mentor for Compassionate Inquiry.

I adhere to the vision, standards, principles, and ethics of Buddhism, CI, IFS, SE, MBT and PAT.

I live with my second husband in Portugal, near the beach and I take care of two beautiful children and three cats. I enjoy playing tennis, cycling, surfing, doing Yoga, practicing martial arts and spending time in my garden, in the forest or in the ocean.
