Soraya Romao-Inglis (Fateh Bir)
Private Mentor, Life Coach
My aim is to provide you the support and guidance you are looking for to feel confident about the Compassionate Inquiry approach. As a mentor, my goal is to hold a ‘brave space’ where you can experience and acknowledge your personal feelings related to your client-scenarios. Through a reflective approach I will meet you where you are at. I believe the importance of building a ‘mentorship alliance’ which would open a space to a better understanding of your process as a Compassionate Inquiry therapist, which is intertwined with your client’s experience.
I have been quite aware of the diversity in our Compassionate Inquiry community. That said, I work from a multicultural lens which gives me the opportunity to explore with curiosity the presence of intersectionality in your therapeutic settings, as well as its influences. I am also aware that my job is not to evaluate your competency as a psychotherapist rather to focus on your Compassionate Inquiry abilities and skills. I have completed two courses in Clinical Supervision Training: 1) Lois Ehrmann, PhD, LPC, NCC/ACS (online); and 2) Devon Silvers, M.A, R.C.C at City University of Seattle (Master’s In-Counselling Program).
I am a settler in Canada, born in Brazil, a person of colour, cisgender, and a beneficiary of the Canadian and Brazilian colonial system. I moved to Canada in 2002 with the desire to learn about different cultures and to gain different perspectives of human interactions. Prior to being involved with mental health, I worked at a corporate job and parallel to it, I was able to gain over 800 hours of yoga and meditation training and have had the privilege to study and travel to various countries.
I had the opportunity to meet Dr. Sat Dharam Kaur and Dr. Gabor Mate during the Beyond Addiction (BA) program in 2016 and, from that program, I developed a deep understanding and interest in trauma. In 2018, I was invited to be part of the first training in Compassionate Inquiry (CI) in Vancouver, and the rest is history.
When working with me, you can expect a mentorship focused on a Compassionate Inquiry (CI) approach and Internal Family Systems (IFS) model (in training). My purpose is to walk alongside you working from a trauma-informed lens. You will be experiencing care, compassion and understanding during our sessions.
